Escape the daily grind to connect with like-minded souls, learn something new, and have fun!
Join us for an afternoon of learning, connection, and inspiration on Sunday, February 16, in Livermore. The venue is within walking distance of the San Francisco Premium Outlets and many restaurants, so you can make a day (or weekend) out of it!
1-2pm: Belly Dance Cardio with Stephanie | Glisten with SharQui. Join Stephanie, a certified SharQui instructor, as she leads a cardio class that fuses authentic belly dancing with fitness. In SharQui, which is an accredited format, you’ll learn new moves and combinations in flow. You’ll gradually build up to more complex movements starting with the very basics – your feet! You’ll glisten because you’ll be strengthening your core, building stamina and having fun with SharQui, the Bellydance Workout.
2:30-5pm: Workshop with Sausan | Golden Era of Belly Dance Greats. Join Sausan, owner of Al-Masri and creator of the Sausan Method, as she teaches a mini crash course in Classic Egyptian-style belly dance, along with a video study of Egypt's Golden Era of Belly Dance Greats. By the end of the course, you will be dancing to Egyptian pop/modern music and take home handouts given for out-of-class reference.
5-5:30pm: Break with optional dinner (must pre-order below by 2/13) | Catered by Al-Masri. Lucky us! Sausan, chef and owner of Al-Masri, will be catering our early dinner. Please select the desired flavor(s) of savory puff pie pastries and submit your order below by 2/13. If you order after this deadline, you must confirm with chefsausan@gmail.com whether she will be able to fulfill your order because she might not be able to get the additional ingredients in time. Payment will be accepted in cash only, on the day of (please try to have exact change).
5:30-6:15pm: Hafla | Clothing Swap and Performances (must sign up below by 2/13). Let’s close out with some fun! We’ll start this segment with a clothing swap – what’s old to you is new to someone else, and vice versa. Sign up to perform in a stress-free, casual environment to an audience of your fellow belly dancers cheering you on. All levels are welcome; please bring your own music on a device that is Bluetooth-enabled, and keep to 5 minutes max per individual/group. Sign up below so that we have an idea of how many performers we will have. Only retreat participants are eligible to attend this hafla.
Accommodations
Homewood Suites by Hilton in Livermore is offering us a group rate of $150/night for guest rooms, plus taxes and fees for a total of $165.54/night. Breakfast and parking are included! Dogs are welcome (additional $75 cleaning fee). To take advantage of this special group rate, please call 925-606-1984 or book online by 1/13/25 (reservations for guest rooms after this date will be at market rates). You do not need to stay overnight to attend on 2/16/25.
