Belly dancing is a Western term for a traditional Middle Eastern dance form and is one of the oldest in practice today.

It can be divided into two general categories: social dances, performed by people with or without formal training during festive occasions, such as weddings, and theatrical dances, performed by performers with formal training, usually with a set choreography. Notably, there are many sub-genres of belly dancing today, with their own aesthetics and quality of movement. There’s something for everyone!
